Brihadeeswarar Temple, is one of the oldest shiva temple in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, which is also know as Rajesvara Peruvudaiyar. The temple was build and constructed by CHola King, Raja Raja Chola during 985-1014.
The temple is entirely build with granite stones, the vimana tower the sanctum if the tallest in the south India and one of largest shiva lingas in india. The temple comples also includes Nandi, Parvathi, Kartikeya, Ganesh and many more.
The Temple is one of the UNESCO World Heritage site known as “Great Living Chola Temples”
